Grade Spartan of the Week for Oct 6, 2023
Chase Corder is the Connersville Middle School 8th Grade Spartan of the Week for the week of October 6, 2023. Chase is the son of Michael Corder and the grandson of Darlene Byrd and William Pearson. Ms.Deeann Revalee, the CMS Executive Secretary, nominated Chase as a Red Coat Office Helper. Office helpers are personally selected each school year for reliability. Ms. Revalee says: “Chase is very personable and shows great initiative. He is always willing to help, often before he is asked”. Mrs. Kate Swininiger added: “Chase is a sweet and kind young man. He always has a smile, is willing to help and has a great attitude”.
In his free time, Chase enjoys video games, spending time with his family and playing basketball. His goal is to play for Connersville High School in the Spartan Bowl. He also has three greyhounds that he cares for and races with his Dad. When asked what he likes best about CMS, Chase stated: “I like being able to see my friends and have different teachers during the day. I enjoy the opportunity to be a Red Coat, I really like helping people”.
CMS 7th Grade Spartan of the Week Oct 6, 2023
Olivia Whitecotton is the Connersville Middle School 7th Grade Spartan of the Week for October 6, 2023. Olivia is the daughter of Samantha and Brandan Whitecotton, and the granddaughter of Anna and David Moore and Cathy Whitecotton.
Mrs. Emily Woytik nominated Olivia on behalf of the Eagles team. Mrs. Woytik and other teachers say: ”Olivia volunteered to paint a full wall mural of an Eagle on the third floor of CMS. Olivia has dedicated many hours to this project. She is an excellent student, participates in class and gets her work done. The Eagles teachers are honored to have her on our team”.
Olivia is a member of the CMS Band, where she plays trombone. She was on the Honor Roll at Grandview and continues her academic success at CMS. In her free time Olivia enjoys running, swimming, video games, sketching and painting, as well as spending time with her family. When asked what she likes best about CMS, Olivia said: “I like having different teachers and being in classes with likeminded students”. It is important to Olivia to set a positive example and make good choices in school. Her favorite classes are Math and Science; she would like to combine that with her artistic talent and study Architecture in college.
