Dear FCSC Families, I hope that you have had an enjoyable and safe holiday season. As we welcome our students and staff back to school tomorrow, January 5th, I wanted to provide some updated information as we continue to deal with Covid-19. The Indiana Department of Health released new quarantine guidance for schools that reduces the required quarantine time periods. The new guidelines are located on our district website - www.fayette.k12.in.us. We will continue under the mask/face covering requirement at this time which allows students and staff identified through "contact-tracing" to remain in school without a mandatory quarantine period. In addition, the federal requirement for masks on buses is in place until at least March 18th. We will continue to closely monitor our county's status each day as students return to school. I appreciate your understanding and continued cooperation. Scott Collins Superintendent Fayette County School Corporation

FCSC Students, Staff, and Families, Our CMS administrators were made aware of a possible threat made by a student. Law enforcement immediately began an investigation. Both the city and county law enforcement agencies have been directly involved in this ongoing investigation. We do not take any threat directed towards our students, staff, or schools lightly, and this situation has been turned over to law enforcement and our prosecutor at this time. As we do each day, we have a law enforcement officer onsite at Connersville Middle School, and we have asked for additional police presence to help our students, staff, and families feel secure as we return to school on Monday morning. CMS will open on a regular schedule tomorrow, and I want to reassure our families, staff, and community that the threat has been addressed to allow for the safe return of our students and staff. On behalf of the Fayette County School Corporation, I want to thank our city police department and sheriff's department for their support of our school safety initiatives and for their quick response to any emergency situations or threats that may arise.
